Pauline Caverly

June 9, 1943 — August 21, 2021

On Saturday August 21 st , 2021 our mom, Pauline Sylvia Caverly (born Wilkinson), passed away peacefully in her sleep with her two daughters present at Harbourstone Enhanced Care nursing home in Sydney. She is now at peace after her journey of 5 years with dementia. Pauline was born on June 9, 1943 in Glace Bay and grew up in Lingan and Dominion, two very special places in her heart.

Pauline is survived by her two daughters, Debbie McDougall (Jenny Gilmore) of Truro, NS and Anita Caverly of Brantford, Ontario. She is also survived by her most-cherished and beloved only grandson, Brandon Nadon of Brantford, Ontario. As well, survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her birth mother, Eunice Wilkinson of Glace Bay and by her parents (to whom she was forever grateful for raising her) Sadie (Hall) of Lingan and John Henry Campbell of Dominion. As well, she is predeceased by sisters, Mary Campbell of New Waterford, Mary “Cookie” Kane of Glace Bay, Theresa Romard of Boston and her brother, Robert Wilkinson of Glace Bay. Pauline is also predeceased by the two great loves of her life, Ed Thistle of Castle Bay and Ray Rockett of New Waterford.

Our mom was one of the most kind-hearted, sensitive, generous and caring person who loved others deeply and we know she was well-loved, in return, by many in her lifetime. Her daughters want to thank the residents of 245 Curran St for the sense of community and the good home she had while living there for 25 years. And, most especially, we are deeply grateful for those who held care and concern for her in the last years there.

Her two daughters can never adequately express our deepest gratitude to the staff of MacDougall Court at Harbourstone Enhance Care, Sydney for their true care (and love) for our mom for the last 14 months, and especially, for their compassionate care during her last 5 days of life. Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service upon her wishes.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, if interested. Online
