BENNETT, Marilyn Frances (nee Young)

80 -  Whitney Pier

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Marilyn Frances Bennett (nee Young) 80, on Tuesday, 7 January 2020, at her home in Sydney. Born in New Waterford on 24 Sep 1939, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Patrick and Agatha Young.

Marilyn worked at the Cape Regional Hospital (former Sydney City Hospital) for 35 years, as an ECG technician and retired in 2002. She enjoyed playing bingo, card games and travelling to Florida, but she loved living in the "Pier", where she enjoyed the many people who shared a part of her life. Unannounced visits were always welcome at any time, day or night. There was never a need to call ahead. Her home was a favourite place to gather for her children and their friends, who always felt welcomed.

Marilyn will be remembered by her family and friends for her friendliness, kindness, sense of humour and mostly her devotion to her family. She will also be remembered by her special niece Elaine Graham, co-worker Herbie Dean and frequent visitor Larry Gniewek.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Buddy, Sydney, David (Linda), Ottawa, Kelly, Toronto, daughters, Raylene, Sydney, and Cheryl (Oakie), Lower Sackville. Marilyn also leaves behind her ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael, Jennifer, Jillian, Joshua, Christopher, Kyle, Janel, Destinee and Shauntelle; nine great-grandchildren, Kobe, Sydney, Ryland, Gemma, Easton, Jeffery, Owen, Tanner and Easton and her sister Patsy (Lloyd) Dartmouth as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Lloyd (Lee), her daughter, Darlene and her brother Freddy, with whom she is now reunited.

As per Marilyn's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to a charity of your choice.

The Bennett family wishes to thank Dr. Myatt and his staff, Janice and Laura. Special thanks to the VON for their care and attention to our mother during her time of need.
