Lorraine Hutchins

HUTCHINS, Lorraine Pearl, 91 of Sydney, passed away peacefully with family by her side on
December 28, 2019 at Northside General Hospital. Lorraine was the daughter of the late Leinus
and Violet (Eddy) Coombs.
She was born in Sydney and lived her life in Coxheath. She was a member of St. Mark's Church,
Coxheath and later Saint Albans in Whitney Pier.
Lorraine was pre-deceased by her husband Alfred in 2016 and her sister Marjorie Ball in 2008
and her brother Evelyn Coombs in 1939. She is survived by her children Alf (Lillian), Ontario;
Kenny (Patricia), Coxheath; Linda (Bud), Inverness; and Donna (Terry), Coxheath; Also surviving is brother-in-law Frank; 12
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great, great, grand-children and several nieces and
nephews.
Lorraine loved her time as a member of Saint Mark’s Church choir. Her house was seldom silent
of music whether it was her playing her piano or ukulele or one of the many musical sessions
with the many family musicians and friends. She also loved to knit and enjoyed a good game of
crib. A visit to her house always included a good cup of tea.
The family would like to thank the staff of Northside Community Guest Home where Lorraine
had resided for the past year as well as the many Cape Breton County Homemakers and the
VON who helped Lorraine in her home over the past several years.
Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Haven Memorial Gardens and Crematorium. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
A visitation will be held between 1:00 and 2:00, followed with the funeral service at Saint Albans Church on January 3 at 2:00 with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.foreathaven.ca
