Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna McKenzie (Houlihan) on June 28th, 2021. Lorna passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) palliative care unit after 5 years of battling cancer. Born August 10th, 1955 she spent majority of her adult life in Sydney, CB whereby, Lorna devoted her passion for teaching to the youth and adults in the region.

She worked tirelessly to better the lives of others and ensure people from all walks of life had the opportunity to obtain their high school diplomas. She was an avid fan of sports - basketball in particular (The Raptors). Not only did Lorna excel in teaching math - she was an expert scrabble player with a large vocabulary. Lorna was known for always finding the best shopping deal, being kind, funny and light-hearted - she spoke highly of others and continuously supported those around her.

Lorna was the daughter of Fred and Lorraine (MacKeigan) Houlihan. She is survived by her husband Louis, sons Matthew (Brittanie), Chris (Shannon) and grandsons Nick and Thomas.
