Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Guy Carleton announces his passing on December 28, 2020, at the age of 83 years.

Guy will be missed by his children Karen Duncan (John) of Eckville, AB; Sylvia Deveaux (Stephen) of Balls Creek, NS; Joel Carleton (Holly) of Balls Creek, NS. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Guy is predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Isabel and his daughter Heather Carleton-Stec of Drayton Valley, AB. He is also predeceased by his siblings Doris Adema and Willie Carleton.

Guy was born July 12, 1937 in Hilliard Township, Ontario to George Kenneth and Mattie Carleton. He was the seventh and last child of Mattie (three girls and four boys) who were raised on a hard working farm in Hilliard Township.

He married Isabel Kirkby on October 12, 1957 and they lovingly raised their family on a beautiful farmstead by the Blanche River in Hilliard Township which he built with his own two hands. He was a carpenter all his life and many of his family still treasure his handiwork. Guy loved gardening and showing hospitality which included fishing and playing cards with friends and most of all sharing encouraging scriptural thoughts from the Bible with others.

In the fall of 2010 they made the decision to sell the family farm and move to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where they followed the same course of hospitality making many new friends along the way.
