Gertrude "Tootsie" Seward

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Tootsie (Gertrude Mary) Seward. She passed away peacefully on April 21, 2020 at Taigh Na Mara Nursing Home in Glace Bay. Born in Bridgeport, NS on May 13, 1938 she was the daughter of Fred and Alma Lynk. Tootsie spent most of her life in Glace Bay with her husband Gussie. Her main focus in life was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as an evening out with her sisters Aggie and Delie and her brother Trumie. When her husband passed she moved to Dominion to be near her daughter and best friend Mary. Tootsie will be forever missed by her daughter Mary Cathcart (Ira), sons Gussie (Lynn) and John (Leona); her grandchildren Kathy (Chris), Stephen (Allison), Tessa (Jordan), Alex and Conor; her great grandchildren Emily, Dylan and Will; her brothers Truman (Marie) and Jerry (Shelley); her sisters Aggie and Mary as well as her special friend Joe Gilmet. She was predeceased by her husband Gussie; her parents Fred and Alma Lynk; her brothers Everett, Bernie, Norm and Sam; her sisters Helen, Delie, Lila and Gertie. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
