William James Smith - Glace Bay

It is with regret that we announce the peaceful passing of William James Smith, 89, on February 3, 2020 at Victoria Haven Nursing Home. Willie was born on October 18, 1930 to Peter and Annie (MacDonald) Smith.

He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Stevens) in December, 2018. He was also predeceased by a sister Shirley. Willie is survived by his only daughter Janis, Florida; three sons Brad (Kelly), Dominion; David (Melva), Reserve Mines and Kevin (late Hazel), Toronto. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrea, Jennifer, Shannon, Jessica, James, Greg, Mike, Ryan (Samantha); Connor (Mary); great grandchildren Kenzie, Noah, Kaden, Ryan, Logan, Peyton, Kohen and Holy; sister Carol (late Alex) MacMillan.

Cremation has taken place. A service and interment will take place for both William and Dorothy in July. (Announcement will be published). The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Victoria Haven for their excellent care over the years. We would also like to thank Dr. Gordon Spencer for his care and attentiveness to Willie over the years as well as Jeannie for always being so kind and patient. Thank you.
