We, the family, sadly announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, William Day of Florence, C.B; on November 6, 2020 at home. Born in Harbour Breton, Nl, on June 5, 1946, he was a son of the late Harry P and Edith (Neil) Day. He spent his life as a deep sea fisherman and enjoyed watching ball games and hockey; especially when the Montreal Canadians played.
He was married for 54 years to the love of his life, the former Marilyn Devoe and they raised 4 children together; daughter Edith (Norm) Troock; sons John (Dorothy); Allan (Melanie) and Vince (Phylis), all residing in Fort McMurray; Besides his wife and children, he is also survived by grandchildren Dylon (Savana), Ocean, Fort McMurray; Justin and Jordan, North Sydney; sisters Blanche (Fred); Marie (Lorne); Mildred (Jim); Marg (Eric); brother Allan, All of Newfoundland; as well as a sister-in-law Jean; step grandchildren Carrie (Shaun); Jessica (James); Jenny (Weston); all of Fort McMurray. Also left to mourn are his friends George Pink, Dave Seaward & Wilson Plowman.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son Darren Troy; brother John; sisters Gladys and Lydia as well as a sister in law Margaret. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Bobbie York for her friendship and care as well as nieces Kim and Shauna for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven and there will be no visitation. The family will plan a service of remembrance at a later date. Donations in William's memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. (Details below)
