It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter “Wally” Locke on March 7, 2026, at the age of 63. Wally passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Wally was born August 10, 1962 in Toronto and raised in Cape Breton but later moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he built a life and career. He worked for Canada Bread for more than 25 years before retiring in July 2023. After retirement, Wally returned home to Cape Breton, where he looked forward to enjoying a quieter life and spending more time with his beloved grandchildren.

Wally is survived by his loving wife, Cathy (Casey) Locke; his daughters, Catie Locke (Jason) and Emilie Sawatsky (Ryan), and his cherished grandchildren, Lyla and Kayden. He also leaves behind his two adored “puppy granddaughters,” Penelope and Daphne.

He was predeceased by his father, Walter “Jack” Locke; his mother, Marguerite Locke; Lila Casey (Mother In-Law); and his best furry buddy, Milo.

In keeping with Wally’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Wally will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
