IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teddy
Baillie
May 23, 1946 – February 11, 2026
, It is with deep sadness, the family of Sidney (Teddy) Baillie, regret to announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday February 11th, 2026 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born in Halifax and was the son of John and Nalda (Fleet) Baillie.
Teddy was a devoted and loving husband to Thelma for 54 years, loving father to his children; John, Angela (Chris), Tina (Herman), and Justin (Kristen) who will dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. Teddy took great pride in being a parent, but took greater pride in being a Grampy to Cole (Jerzee), Rachel, Shaelyn, Todd, Logan, and Leland(Papa's little man). Teddy also had a very close friend who he treated like a daughter, Cheryl (Dan) and family who have been a very big part of his life for over 40 years. He was predeceased by his mother, one brother, in-laws (Bernadine and Clarence Perry), five sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and one nephew.
Besides his loving family, he is also survived by; his father John (Maryanne Bishop), three siblings, and his extended family including many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, step grandchildren, great step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Teddy had a love for carpentry, he owned his own business and was a mentor for many people within his career. He then later worked at Mount Saint Vincent University where he retired from. His biggest passion was cooking and making his famous soup, you would never go hungry while Teddy was around. Teddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, yodelling, piddling around his garage, telling jokes and talking like Donald Duck to the kids. He also loved spending time with his family and having a house full of company.
We the family, would like to give a special thanks to all of the nurses, doctors, and medical staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital over the past seventeen months for giving Teddy the best care. He made some really special bonds with some staff during his stay and appreciated everyone for their compassion.
We would also like to thank our family who have helped in any way and for just being there during this difficult time and for everything they have done for us, it has not gone unnoticed.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. A gathering will be held at 6:00pm on Friday February 20th, 2026 at the Louisbourg Fire Hall with a service at 6:30pm, Sheldon Chant to officiate, and a celebration of life to follow.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Teddy.
