A life well lived came to a peaceful close on June 15, 2025, at Harbourview Hospital in Sydney Mines with the passing of longtime Mira resident Shirley Ann (Ferguson) Noseworthy.
Shirley graduated from CBBC with a secretarial course which led to her long time employment with Island Ford. Shirley later worked for the Department of Transportation and ended her work career at Mira River Provincial Park, where she was loved by co-workers and campers alike. Shirley was a long time member of MacMillan Memorial United Church in Catalone, holding such positions as session, treasurer, choir, life member of the UCW and supporter of all church events. She was also a long time, proud supporter of the PC party. Shirley enjoyed many summers "at the shore" on the Mira River with family and friends.
Shirley will be missed by her son Lynn Robert Noseworthy (of Mira) and many members of the Noseworthy and Ferguson families. She will forever be missed by many returning campers at the Mira River Provincial Park and friends in the community.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Noseworthy; her parents John and Florence (Bond) Ferguson; brothers Donald and Robert; birth mother Patricia (Ferguson) (Clive) Parnell and brother Wayne Parnell.
Special thanks to "the Girls", Tracey Shepherd, Kim Horne, Bev MacLean, Judy Horne-Hart, and Karen Crocker, who looked after Shirley at home which allowed her to enjoy many more days in Mira. Shirley looked forward to their arrival each day and enjoyed going for drives, exercising out on the deck, dancing to music (especially "Newfie music"), sweet treats and the re-telling of stories from her childhood.
A celebration of Shirley's life has taken place at MacMillan Memorial United Church, on Saturday June 21, where many a "Shirley story" was shared.
