Shirley MacLellan

November 7, 1937 — November 15, 2019

It is with deep sadness we the family announce the passing of our mom Shirley Marie MacLellan on November 15, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late John and Veronica (Newell) Brushett.

She was very active and loved to dance, skate, bake and be around her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a long time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of the choir.

Shirley is survived by her children Gary (Glenda), Glendale; Cathy (Chris) Morrison, Tanglewood; Donna (David) Matheson, Glace Bay; Wanda (Ricky) Young, Glace Bay; Blair (Audrey), Sydney; brothers Fabian (Cassie); Frank (Catherine); Danny (Eileen); 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and her good friend Roy. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Archie, whom she was immensely devoted to and loved dearly; son Johnny in infancy; sister Marg; brothers John, Charles, Collie.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial will follow in St Anne’s Cemetery, Wallace Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care / An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
