We lost a wonderful man, July 31. A husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend.
Sheldon was a remarkable man, that always gave his smile to those that didn’t have one. He was always willing to learn new things, meet new people and enjoy new experiences.
We all know and respect Sheldon for his selflessness and humor. He will always be missed and loved. Sheldon was devoted to his wife, his children, grandchildren and fur-babies. He had many cherished friends and co-workers throughout his long career with the city of Toronto. He also loved his motorcycle and those who rode with him.
After retirement Sheldon moved back home to Cape Breton. He became a well loved and respected figure in his community. Volunteering many hours to the Saint John Ambulance, as well as volunteering at the North Shore & District Fire Department. Working his way up the ladder to become Deputy Fire Chief.
Sheldon is predeceased by his biological father Earl Lund, mother Theresa Ferguson, son Sheldon Ferguson II and fur-baby Buddy, as well as brothers Steve and Brent.
He leaves behind his wife Cindy, daughters Sandra (Meghan) and Shannon (Paul), grandchildren Matthew, Mariah, William and Willow. Sisters Rebecca, Kathy, Diane and Sheryl, brothers Gary and Greg, uncle Donnie and aunt Shirley.
As per his wishes, he has been cremated and a Celebration of Life and honor guard for Sheldon will be held on Friday, August 8th, 2025 at 2pm at the North Shore & District Volunteer Fire Department, 46177 Cabot Trail, Indian Brook, NS, B0C-1H0.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Sheldon’s memory can be made to Palliative Care, Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
