Sandra Louise McCormick

September 21, 1942 — September 19, 2023

Sydney, NS

It is with shattered hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Sandra Louise McCormick (nee Evans) on September 19, 2023, two days before her 81st birthday. Sandra was born in Sydney to the late Berkley Evans and Eva Evans (nee Vatcher), on September 21, 1942.

Sandra worked at the Joy grocery store early in her life, and worked at odd jobs over the years, but she is best remembered for being a bartender at the Irish Centre Club for many years, where she made many friends. Mom was a kind and gentle soul who always thought about everybody’s well-being, and never her own.

She often went without supper because one or more friends would be at the house and she would feed them her supper. She said prayers for people she didn’t even know.

If one of her kids told her that someone they knew was having health problems, she would say a prayer for them. She was a selfless person who didn’t complain about what she didn’t have. Mom loved to play TV bingo and Yahtzee, talk to her sisters on the phone, and look out the window.

Looking out the window was her way of worrying about someone and their problems. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Bernard (Meece) McCormick, her son Gregory, and brother Bobby and sister Betty.

Mom is survived by sons David Robar (Melissa), Paul Robar, and daughter and best friend, Deanna Robar. She is also survived by her siblings, Tommy (Rose), Donna (late John Cameron), Bruce and Joanne (Wes). Mom is also survived by grandchildren Daniel Robar, Kyle Robar, Shantelle Kenny, and Jenna Robar.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with her nieces Darlene and Erin. We can’t forget to mention her fur baby Holly!.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the I.C.U at CB Regional Hospital, especially Kelsey, Amy and Joanna.

As per Mom’s wishes, there will not be a service or visitation. A family gathering will take place.
