We the family announce the passing of Ronald “Ron” Frederick Erickson. Born on Dec 9, 1954 formerly of Grand Lake Road, and passed on April 23, 2026.
Ron is survived by his sons Kieron and Esa of Sydney, brothers Joe Erickson and Steve Erickson, sister Marion Erickson all of Sydney as well as sister Karen Glessing of Alberta, step siblings Lorne Glessing & Gary Glessing of Nova Scotia, Greg Glessing, Joyce (Frank) Preeper and Lorraine (Al) Glessing all of Alberta, nieces Amanda (Darryl) Lowery of British Columbia, Nena (Jeremy) Erickson-Oakes, Shannon (Mike Doucette) Dupe, Victoria (Travis Hayes) Erickson all of Sydney and nephew Jay Erickson of North Sydney. He also leaves behind his best friend Jim Power of Alberta.
Ron is predeceased by his father James Erickson, mother Mary (Crane) Glessing, step-father Lorne Glessing, paternal grandparents Rudy & Mary Erickson, maternal grandparents Art & Mary Crane and sister Darlene Mitchell.
Ron graduated from Eastern Tech with a degree in business. He worked at Co-Op (on Prince Street), CIBC bank, the Sydney Casino and H&R Block.
Ron was an avid football fan, cheering for the Edmonton Elks and the New England Patriots, as well as the Edmonton Oilers. Ron also had a love of travelling.
Ron has now gone to join his fellow Grand Lake Roaders (the Lakers).
Cremation has taken place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, with burial and celebration of life at a later date.
Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Red Cross Society.
