Robert "Bobby" Keough was born in Sydney on March 18, 1950 and passed away on June 1, 2024, in Sydney, at the age of 74. Bobby, known for his leadership and dedication, was an electrician in the public service in Sydney until 1993. Following the closure of the Radar Base, he moved to Halifax and served as Union President of Local 409, advocating for workers' rights and improving working conditions for his colleagues, earning their respect and admiration.
Bobby was a lifelong, passionate fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He loved camping and spent his summers at Riverland Campground with his second family in Moetown. He was also very active in the Royal Canadian Legion, loved playing darts, and volunteered countless hours to the annual Poppy Campaign.
Bobby was pre-deceased by his parents Buddy and Evelyn Keough. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife Carolyn Keough (Yakemchuk), brothers Melvin (Diana) and Glen (Susan), sister Karen MacDonald (Stewart) daughter Krista (Andrew), sons Blaise (Traci), Terry, and Brian Boutilier, as well as his 12 grandchildren and great grand daughter.
A memorial service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held at Forest Haven Memorial Garden and Crematorium at 1100 on Friday 7th June. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Bobby’s legacy of kindness, leadership and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
