Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Barry Bendle, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born June 12, 1963, in Etobicoke/Toronto, Ontario.

Ray will be deeply missed by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Cynthia May Bendle (Mallett), who was by his side throughout their life together.

He leaves behind his children, Kayla Bendle and Kyle Bendle (Laura Bendle), and his beloved granddaughter, Aubree Bendle, whom Ray lovingly called “Peanut” and who brought him so much happiness and pride.

Ray is also survived by his mother, Heather Bendle (McKenzie); his siblings, Darryl (Bev) Bendle, Diane (Mike) Horner, and Brenda (Matt) Biggs; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his father, Ross Bendle.

Ray was a skilled heavy-duty mechanic who spent many years working with Hydro One. Before that, he owned and operated his own business, Southpaw Auto Service Inc., where his knowledge, skill and love of mechanics were evident in everything he did.

Beyond his work, Ray had a deep passion for classic cars, NHRA and NASCAR racing. He loved nothing more than getting behind the wheel of his coach motorhome and travelling with Cindy, enjoying the freedom of the open road and the adventures they shared together.

Ray had a genuine love for the outdoors. He treasured campfires, time spent with family and friends, and the simple moments that brought people together. He had a magical laugh—one that could fill a room and make those around him smile. Ray was a man who was simply full of love, warmth and joy, and he had a way of making the people around him feel special.

His greatest legacy will not be found in the things he built or the places he travelled, but in the love he gave so freely, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created with his family and the people he loved.

At Raymond request, cremation has taken place.

Donation in Raymond's memory can be made to the following organizations:
