Obituary

The family of Patrick C. Gorman, 80, of Sydney is saddened to announce his passing on June 1, 2026. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Patrick is survived by his wife Crystel Gorman, his children; Wanda, Kathy, Raymond, Patricia, Darlene, Walter and Parnell. He is also survived by his stepchildren who he raised as his own Carter and Colleen Dyer. Patrick also leaves behind his brothers John and Paul Gorman, and sisters Jeanie Covey and Frances Gorman, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special daughter-in-law Lorianne Dyer.

Dad worked for Sydney Landscaping and Nurseries for 56 years. After his retirement he spent his time with family and many close friends. He also spent time enjoying his favorite pastime; fishing. He would explore many areas of Cape Breton until he found his favorite spot; Gabarus Lake. Dad would spend hours fishing there every chance he got.

Pat had many loved ones waiting for him as he transitioned to the other side, including his parents Patrick and Kathleen; sisters Allison and Rose Gorman, the mother of his children Lola Borden and his daughter Lisa Borden.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day; unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and held so dear. Until we meet again.

As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. The family will have a private Celebration of Patrick’s Life at a later date.

Cremation has taken place. Donations in Patrick’s memory can be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, or to a charity of one’s choice.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of 4C at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all they did for Pat and also the VON and Palliative Care nurses who made sure that Pat’s final week at home was possible. Thank you for the support you have given to the family so that we could give Pat his final wish.
