Mary Anita Skinner

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Mary- beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-aunt, and friend, on May 22^nd, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 79, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in North Sydney on January 9^th, 1945, Mary was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary McIsaac Ivey. Mary worked for many years at the old Stellamaris and continued to work for the main street lounge doing maintenance for many years.

Mary is survived by her loving husband and best friend Joe of 63 years, her sons Kevin (Annalee), Troy (Cyndi), Joey (Mary), also by her daughter Tammy (Nelson Scott), and her grandchildren Tyler (Tonya), Brett (Megan), Michael (Jenacee), Brendan, Bhreanna (Kyle), Colby (Kendra), Ethan and Christopher, one great-grandchild Elias and many nieces and nephews who were near and dear to her heart.

Also survived by her sisters Thelma, Betty and Linda. Brothers Russie and Terry. Mary is also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, William and Bernadette Smith Skinner, sister Peg, brothers Lou, Don, Dave, Bill and Wayne.

A very special thank you to the staff on 4-D at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all their love and compassion at this difficult time, it will never be forgotten.

There will be a Mass Service for Mary on Sunday, May 26^th at the St. Joseph Parish Church, 34 Archibald Ave, North Sydney at 2pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at the North Sydney Fire Fighters Club, 14 Pierce Street, North Sydney, on Sunday June 9^th from 3-6pm. Burial will take place at a later date.
