It is with heartfelt sadness that we the family, announce the passing of Josephine Savitzski on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Port Saunders, Newfoundland, Josie was the daughter of the late William and Rachel (Lavers) Coles.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 71 years Kazemer, daughters Helen Evans (Doug), Felecia MacKeigan (Eion), sons Kazemer and John.
Josie also leaves behind her grandchildren; Tami Doney (Dallin), Nicholas Evans (Carla), Shaun MacKeigan (Lori), Rachelle Lariviere (Steve), Chris Savitzski (Ashleigh) and Kaz Savitzski, as well as great-grandchildren; Emma, Sophia, Jack, Lydia, Graham, Ford, Amy, Adam, Brayden, Andrew and Braxten, her sisters; Rita Gould, Helena Phillipo, Stella Tighe, Gert Campbell, Jean Reid, Jennie Dornadic, her brother Anthony Coles, sister-in-law Stella Ardelli, brother-in-law Joe Sawicki as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers; George, Ignatius and York and sisters Frances and Louise.
Josie was an active member of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Parish. Over the years she enjoyed playing tarbish at the Pensioners Club and loved going to bingo with her many friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Worth, Dr. Ryan Kelly and the nursing staff of 4A and the Palliative Care team for the wonderful care they provided.
There will be no visitation and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 23rd at 11am at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, 47 West Street, Sydney with Fr. Volodymyr Perum officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local charity of choice.
