Obituary

It has been a difficult year since the passing of our mother. She passed away peacefully at her home in London, Ontario. A burial mass has been arranged as well as a Celebration of life.

Marian was a former resident of New Waterford, Nova Scotia. She was born in New Waterford and the daughter of the late Tom and Essie (White) MacDonald.

Marian was born in 1953 and spent many of her early years in New Waterford, Nova Scotia where she graduated in 1972 at the St. Marthas School of Nursing in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and moved to Ontario in the early 80’s. She spent most of her life as a nurse, Director of Care at multiple nursing homes and retired as a Ministry of Long Term Care Inspector in Ontario. She was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and always enjoyed watching them!

Leaving to mourn her passing are her children, Lonita Wilton, Calgary, Alberta and R.T. (Pam)Wilton, Waterloo, Ontario.

Also left to mourn her passing are her brother Bud (Marilyn) MacDonald and sister, Joanne (Don) Abel. She was predeceased by her brother Lawlor MacDonald (1995)

Marian is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyus and Kessa Jardine, Mira McNeil, Mackenzie and Lachlan Wilton.

She is also survived by some wonderful friends and people she has met over the years in her nursing career in Waterloo, Ontario and London, Ontario.

As per Marian’s wishes a cremation was arranged. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday May 30, 2026 at 10am at the Parish Church of St. Leonard, 3180 Mt. Carmel Ave., New Waterford, Nova Scotia. She will be laid to rest with parents Tom and Essie MacDonald at St. Leonard cemetery, New Waterford, Nova Scotia.

Please join us after mass for a Celebration of Life at the Knights of Columbus, 3236 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, Nova Scotia.

Thank you to family & friends who have sent out condolences and well wishes. We appreciate it very much! As it could be difficult to reach all who knew Marian, please share this notice with anyone who you think may know her to join us in her celebration of life.
