It is with sadness that the family of Mable (Watt) Watson of Sydney announce her peaceful passing on May 17, 2021 at the age of 98 years. Mable was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Hazlehurst) Watt. She was predeceased in 2017 by her loving husband of 71 years, Robert Watson.
She is survived by her daughters Janice (John) Milne, Tottenham, ON and Avril (Robert) Malay, Coffinscroft NS; grandchildren, Allison, Jennifer, Andrew, Kenan, Brendan and Glynis: great grandchildren, Gavin, Carter, Zack, Ryland, Malakai and Noella. Until her retirement, Mable worked for St John Ambulance in their office on Townsend St. Mable and Bob loved camping and spent many years travelling to several provinces before putting down roots at the campground in Ben Eoin.
Many happy times were spent there often accompanied by their children and grandchildren. The love of the outdoors and nature has continued to be passed down through the family. Mable could often be found deep in conversation with the grandchildren, and later on, the great grandchildren, listening to their stories about their various activities. She was so proud of their accomplishments and they were always eager to share their news. Mable will be remembered as a kind and generous person, helping others whenever she could.
She was a member of the United Heritage Church, Townsend St., Sydney. She is survived by her sister Isabel Weaver and predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Robert and George Watt, as well as sisters Mary Ross and Ellen Wright. Special thanks to family and friends who have been so helpful and supportive. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation due to Covid-19 restrictions. A family committal service will be held at a later date.
Donations are welcomed in Mable’s memory to Circle of Care Campaign in Support of the Hospice Residence. (https://hospicecapebreton.org/circle-of-care/).
