On the morning of Tuesday, January 12, 2026, Louis (Lou) Irving Chisling passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dartmouth, NS, on May 18, 1949, he was the youngest son of the late Joseph and Doris (Rose) Chisling. Shortly after arriving in Sydney, Lou began a long and dedicated career in retail, starting at Yazer’s Menswear in 1977. He was fortunate to have several mentors in his career, including his father, and the late Jack Yazer and Harvey Webber. Lou was a founding member of the Southend Community Centre and a devoted 20-year member of the Island Martial Arts Centre, where he earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoyed teaching children. In retirement, he enjoyed many years selling at local flea markets.
