Linda Croney

February 2, 1957 — July 21, 2025

Glace Bay

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Linda Croney on July 21, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Glace Bay, Linda was lovingly raised by her grandparents, the late Alfred and Christina (MacPhee) Blois. Though her early years were shaped by the care of her grandparents she also shared a lifelong bond with her mother, the late Sylvia (Blois) Wrice.

Linda spent most of her adult life working in the restaurant industry, where she became known for her reliability, strong work ethic and calm demeanor in even the busiest moments. She understood the workings of a busy kitchen like no one else and treated everyone - coworkers, customers, and strangers alike - with the same genuine care. Something that began in her own kitchen at home, whether it be loved ones visiting for Sunday morning breakfast or those living away that made it home for a visit, her door was always open.

Outside of work, Linda had a true gift for crafting. She could take the simplest materials and turn them into something thoughtful and beautiful. Whether it was a handmade wreath, a carefully wrapped gift, or a well-set table - never forgetting the Christmas crackers where everyone happily wore their paper crowns. She had a quiet way of making things feel special without ever making a fuss about it.

Linda found joy in the details, and it showed - in the way she worked, in the way she created and in the way she cared for the people around her. She will be remembered for her strength, her creativity and the steady kindness she shared every day.

Linda will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Gerald "Gerry" Croney, who was the love of her life; daughter, Michelle Croney, Glace Bay, your mother loved you beyond words; stepson, Gerry "Jake" (Michelle) Croney, Ontario; stepson, Leo Croney, Ontario; two grandsons that she loved more than life itself and she would do anything for, Kaylum and Kash Croney; Their sweet dog Bella who stayed at Linda's side through her sickness.
