It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kirk James MacDonnell of Judique on May 13, 2026 at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. A beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Kirk succumbed to cancer at the age of 33. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on the lives of those around him will never be forgotten.
He was deeply loved by his parents Patricia and Chris, whose lives were forever changed and enriched by his kindness. humour, and caring heart. A brother to Kyle, he shared a bond built on loyalty, laughter, and unconditional support. He was a godfather and uncle to his only nephew, Khalid who he loved. He was a constant source of strength and companionship to his family, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void our hearts.
Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, he had a way of making others feel welcome and valued. Whether through quiet acts of kindness, heartfelt conversations, or simply being present when someone needed him, he touched many lives in meaningful ways. He will be remembered for his love of family, his love of pets, his gentle nature, and the countless memories shared with those closest to him. Kirk loved to hike and travel. Kirk was a pipefitter, travelled back and forth to Alberta for work.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Inverness Consolidated hospital that devoted care Kirk received over the past few months.
He leaves behind his loving parents, devoted brother, his nephew Khalid, maternal grandfather Raymond Chandler, uncles Wayne Chandler, Marty, David, and Rick MacDonell, aunt Janet Jamieson, as well as cousins - Ethan and Evan Chandler, Jeffrey and Justin MacDonnell, Eric and Riley MacDonnell, and Derrick and Laurie MacDonald, extended family and many dear friends who will cherish his memory always.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Anne Chandler, paternal grandparents Thomas and Noreen MacDonnell, and uncle Roger Chandler. Though words cannot ease the sorrow of this loss, his family takes comfort in the love he gave so freely and the legacy of compassion and connection he leaves behind He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A wake and service will take place on Sunday, July 19th at the Blues Mills Gospel Hall from 2-3pm with a funeral service at 3:00pm with Wanye MacLeod presiding. Burial will be in the Upper River Denys Cemetery. Lunch will follow at Blues Mills Gospel Hall. Family flowers only.
