Kenneth Wayne Powell

October 23, 1955 — July 31, 2023

Sydney

It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of our father and brother, Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Wayne Powell on July 31st, 2023. Kenny was born October 23rd, 1955, the son of the late Sara Jean and Donald Powell and predeceased by the love of his life his wife Kathy and his baby sister Tammy.

He is survived by his brother Tommy, son Kenneth, Daughters; Karen Renee (Mark), Casandra ‘CJ’ (Jimmy) and Glenda ‘Joe’, grandchildren; Austin, Amber, Justice, Jasmine and Damien, his many nieces, nephews and too many close friends to name.

Kenny spent the majority of his life driving truck, doing long haul in his younger years and eventually moving home to Sydney and settling down to drive truck locally for Kyle’s Paving. Kenny was a hard worker and a great truck driver who has been known to teach a person a thing or two about driving truck along the way. He was great for a lot of things, but his directions, although spot on, could leave a person confused and “turning around” if you didn’t know him well. Whether having a few drinks and driving people crazy with some old country music, or going out the bungalow, Kenny enjoyed having a good time and spending time with his brother, family, and friends.

The family takes comfort in knowing Kenny passed away at home where he wanted to be surrounded by family and was at peace knowing he would be with his late wife once again.

“Turn around like I say, when it’s your time, it’s your time.”

Cremation has taken place under the guidance of Forest Haven. There will be no funeral service as per Kenny’s wishes.
We would like to thank everybody from the palliative care and VON teams that helped provide him with the very best care in his final weeks.

"I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my daddy you'll be"
