June died peacefully on Friday, May 22,2026 at the age of 95 at her residence with family present. Born in Sydney, NS on June 1, 1930, she was the daughter of James and Beatrice Mortimer. She is survived by her Goddaughter Anna Deveaux (Charles), nephews Ronald Dunbar, England, Daniel MacLellan and Colin MacLellan, Ontario.

June was predeceased by her parents, James and Beatrice Mortimer; her sister, Irene Power; brothers, Leonard Dunbar, Ernest Dunbar, Leonard MacLellan and Douglas MacLellan.

June worked at MT&T for 38 years. She enjoyed her job at the “office” and remained an active member of the Pioneers after retirement. June enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, always ready for a live show or a celebration. June liked to travel especially to Halifax, Newfoundland and Ontario to visit family and friends, and to shop. She was always on the lookout for a special gift for someone.

June was a talented knitter and crocheter. Many of her handmade christening gowns have travelled worldwide. Special thank you to the staff of MacGillivray Guest Home for their superb care of June during her time living there. We would like to thank Glen and Glenda Kent, Linda and David Fougere, Mark and Janice Reynolds and Valerie Rhymes for their ongoing support over the last few years.

 Arrangements are under the care of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life and The Holy Eucharist will be held on June 23, 2026 at 11:00 am. at Christ the King Church, 19 Trinity Ave, Sydney, NS. Rev. Ann Turner and Rev. Glen Kent officiating. A reception to follow.
