Joyce Moss

The family of Evelyn Moss announce with great sadness the loss of our Mom, on June 7, 2021, at the Glace Bay Hospital, at the age of 96. Mom was born August 26, 1924 in Matthews Settlement, NB. She was the daughter of the late William and Effie (Matthews) Somers. Mom worked at the C.B. Hospital in Sydney River for 20 years retiring in
1989. Mom enjoyed walking, playing 45’s with her women’s club and evenings on her swing. She loved her weekly trips to the flea market, where she sold her homemade bread, rolls and sweets.

She was a member of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada for over 30 years. Mom is survived by her three sons, Norris (Judy), Sydney, Garnet (Donna),
Ontario, Brent, Sydney, and her three daughters, Donna (David), Middle Cape, Robyn Dale, Coxheath, Kenda, Ottawa. She is also survived by her sister, Gladys Savage, Lower Newcastle, NB; sister-in-law, Nita Somers, NB; stepsons, Leo, Sydney, George, Ontario, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a grandmother to eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mom is predeceased by her husband, Donald; her grand-son, Troy; two stepsons, two stepdaughters, seven brothers and four sisters.

The family would like to thank Dr. Greg Myatt and his staff for the care and compassion Mom received over the years. We would also like to thank the staff on 3 South of the Glace Bay Health Care Facility. Due to Covid-19 there will be no service or visitation.

Cremation has taken place and we will celebrate Mom’s life in late July. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the Cape Breton branch of the SPCA.

Mom you will be greatly missed, but your memory will live forever in our hearts, we love you and goodnight.
