With loving memory and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of beloved Joseph Henry Kobialko. Known to many as a generous man always ready to give a hand or an uplifting comment, his sudden departure at the age of 78 was a shock to our hearts.
Son of Nellie Woytas and Michael Kobialko, Joseph was born in August 1945 in Punnichy, Saskatchewan. He quickly learned from his parents the importance of hard work and charity, which led him through many entrepreneurial ventures while showing compassion to all, regardless of their situation. As a true people person, he loved to talk about anything to anyone, taking care of his tenants in various ways including distributing turkeys during the holidays, spending hours as a security guard to chat with hospital patients during his semi-retirement, or connecting with his family spread from coast to coast.
Joseph kindness and compassion was limitless, extending to animals - both fur and feathered. Many stories can be told about rescued birds, cats, dogs, rabbits, and raccoons. Either becoming pets and fur family or nurtured until ready to return to Nature. Long time pets Lota [dog] and Bastet [cat] were adored and well taken care of.
In 2003, the ocean called and the move to Cape Breton Island brought many blessings of watching wildlife on their property, viewing the everchanging ocean waves, listening to the ocean on the beach with his wife Gloria, and feeding tidbits from their picnics to the seagulls. Nestled in a Bay overlooking the ocean, the sounds of seabirds were an everyday symphony of Nature with majestic soaring eagles, a delight for the eye and the soul.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents and his daughter Tammy. He will be forever remembered by his wife Gloria [of 46 years], and he leaves behind his siblings Ervin (Joyce) and Shirley (Henry), his sons Byron (Marie-Hélène) and Brandon (Andrea), his grand-children Michael (Katrina), Dylan, Shadhi (Spencer), Xavier, Nellie, Lucie, James and Sophie, his great-grandson Jack, his mother-in-law Rita, his brother-in-law Darwin (Diane), many cousins he loved as siblings, nieces and nephews, and precious friends.
He passed away on February 10th, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his beloved wife Gloria by his side, after receiving wonderful care from the dedicated medical team. Joseph has begun his eternal life without limitations or boundaries. Where pain and sorrow no longer exist. Embraced by the love of God and the arms of loved ones awaiting his arrival.
His wife [soul mate], Gloria was with him constantly as he passed from this world. Playing his favorite music. Saying everything that needed to be said. Actively guiding him to the other side without worry or fear. He received Last Rites in Polish and English by Father Evo DiPierro and was blessed with holy oil from Jerusalem scented with frankincense and myrrh.
Joseph heard and felt the love of his sons, Byron and Brandon as he left this world to greet his daughter Tammy in heaven. You will be greatly missed, Joseph. We know you will watch over Us - as our Guardian Angel.
We cannot see you with our eyes. We cannot touch you with our hands. But we will feel you in our hearts forever.
The soul takes flight to the world that is Invisible.
And there arriving, is sure of Bliss.
And forever dwells in Paradise.
