It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John William Peart, who left us on April 25, 2026, in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, following a lengthy illness. He was 82 years old.

John was born in Antigonish and raised in the community of Guysborough. He spent his professional life behind the wheel, driving truck throughout Ontario. His career spanned decades before he finally hung up his keys.

Upon retirement, John returned to his roots, settling in Bras d’Or to enjoy his later years surrounded by the family he loved so much

John’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by: His beloved wife: Marilyn Peart (née Leis). His son: John Peart and daughter-in-law Debbie. His cherished grandchildren: Sheryl Chaisson and her husband Clayton, Laura Peart, Molly Davidson and her husband Kenneth.

John had his struggles but took immense joy in the accomplishments of his granddaughters.

In accordance with John’s wishes, a private family ceremony will be held to celebrate and remember his life.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the healthcare teams at the Northside Community Guest Home for their compassionate care during his final days.

We take comfort knowing that John is safe in God's memory.
