It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Francis Kennedy of Homeville, Nova Scotia. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Kathleen and John Kennedy of Donkin.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Yvonne; his children, Melissa, Todd (Terri-Lynn), and Ian (Ellen); his cherished grandchildren, Cynthia and Gibson; and his siblings, Sally (Alan), Hugh (Lorna), and Greg.

John will be remembered as a kind and devoted family man and friend, always ready for a good conversation and willing to lend a helping hand.

John spent most of his career as an electrician at Sydney Steel. Outside of work, he had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and conservation. He volunteered for many decades with the Port Morien Wildlife Association and the Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers and Hunters, and was also a dedicated volunteer with the Port Morien Royal Canadian Legion.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion, as well as to their many friends for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

John believed in helping others whenever he could. In his memory, the family invites you to share that same spirit by doing something kind for another person or making a donation to a charity that reflects your own values.
