We, the family of Jean Marion Crowell, age 86, sadly announce her peaceful passing on April25, 2022, at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, Jean was the daughter of the late George and Sadie (Ferguson) Spencer. Jean is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, George; her son David (Julie) and her three daughters Beverly, Nancy (Robbie) Harris, and Sandra Woodford; eight grandchildren, and 10 greatgrandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her sister Wilma (Alan) Baillie and her two brothers Arthur (Heather) and Bobby (Joan). Jean was very devoted to her family.
She was a very active member of Knox United Church, especially with Knox UCW and all of their events and sang in Knox choir. Jean loved singing and was also a member of the Coal Town Chorus. Jean liked to be busy all the time and through the years she was a leader with the Explorers, loved skating, sold Sarah Coventry jewellery, and was a member of the Glace Bay Library book club, to name a few. Jean was a great cook and baker and you could always count on
something delicious whenever you visited her. Jean loved gardening, both in side and out, with her African violets being her pride and joy.
Jean loved animals, especially cats and has always had a cat for a pet. Molly was very special to her. One of Jean's most favorite things was spending Sundays at Beth & Billy's bungalow out on the Mira. For over 50 years, many boat rides, mini-putt and UNO games were enjoyed by all.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors on 3 South at the Glace Bay General Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at Patten's Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.foresthaven.ca.
