James Lortie Allen

We the family announce with much sadness, the passing of our beloved James Lortie Allen on October 31st, 2025 in Sydney. He was born March 23, 1946, to the late Charles Allen & Mary MacRitchie (MacAskill).

Jim was a hard-working man who had many years experience in the sporting goods industry. He was a devoted and loving father, enjoyed the company of animals especially his cats and hummingbirds, loved to play music and enjoyed his time playing his acoustic guitar.

Jim is survived by his daughter Hope (John Leybourne), stepdaughter Gail (John) Montgomery, stepsons Clay (Kathy) and Rodney (Megan) Carmichael and their families. Jim also leaves behind his sister Jackie Carmichael, sister-in-law Marsha Allen and best friend Maggie (Wayne – deceased) Ryan. Jim leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

Other than his parents, Jim is predeceased by his wife Viola Carmichael-Allen, his siblings Ann Woodman, Patricia Edwards, Ken and Sandy Allen, as well as brother-in-law Bucky.

Cremation has taken place and burial will be held on November 10th, at 1PM in Pinehill Cemetery in River Bennett. Pastor Marsha Allen to officiate.
