It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Greggy “Teddy” Kanne at the age of 69.

A lifelong resident of New Waterford, Greg was the son of Joy and the late Frederick Kanne. He worked for more than 30 years at the Braemore (Now Breton Ability Centre) in Sydney River, before retiring in 2016. His first job was at the Co-Op in New Waterford “back in the day”.

Greg was a kind-hearted person who enjoyed conversation and a good laugh.

In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman, a boy scout leader, search and rescue volunteer and was an avid gardener all his life.

Greg is survived by his mother Joy, children Jordan and Chelsea (Joey), brothers Brian and Donald, sister Cynthia, sister-in-law Marilla, aunts Betty and Gwen as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Greg was predeceased by his father Freddy, brother David and many aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place, and an interment and graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Greg’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Search & Rescue.
