George Patrick Muise

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George Patrick Muise, (also known as George P or Moose) of Daley Rd., New Victoria, NS. George passed away in Hospice Cape Breton on Wednesday March 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. His unwavering spirit in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew him.

George was born in New Waterford on September 9^th, 1955, to George Sr. and Helen (Doherty) Muise. Following graduation, George worked for a time at the New Waterford Credit Union. George then changed careers and became a heavy equipment and crane operator. He started his career in road construction here in Nova Scotia. In the early eighties George moved to Alberta where he joined the Operating Engineer’s Union and spent the next thirty-five years working in Alberta. During his time in Alberta, George made many lifetime friends who he kept in touch with until his final days.

George was known as a corvette enthusiast and owned several over his lifetime. He was also an extremely proud Calgary Flames fan as well as a big Green Bay Packers supporter. George loved animals and was heart sick when his canine companion Joy passed away.

George is survived by his daughter Chloe Larson, (Calgary) his sister Nora (Reg) Germain (Bedford NS), his nieces, nephews and a host of longtime friends who were by his side throughout his illness and his hospice care. George was predeceased by his parents George Sr. and Helen as well as his partner Paula Chiasson.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation as per George’s request. A celebration of life will take place at his beloved family cottage in Margaree at a later date. Many thanks go out to the Dr. Frances D’Intino and the entire staff of Hospice Cape Breton where George himself gave the facility a five-star rating.
