With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Bernard MacLellan age 69 on August 9,2021 originally of Colby (Atlantic Street), Sydney, NS. He was the son of the late Douglas and Dorothy (Hall) MacLellan.

Gary worked most of his life in the construction and renovation industry in Calgary and Sydney.

Gary loved spending time with his family and friends and especially appreciated their company over the last few months.  He also loved tinkering in his garage with his corvette.

Yearly road trips to Florida, vacations around the maritimes and shorter adventures around Cape Breton made retirement enjoyable.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 45 years Laurie (Neville), daughters Laura (Dylan Brewer), Michelle (Matthew Spencer), son Sean (Heather D’Entremont), his three precious grandchildren Lucas Spencer, Scarlett Spencer and Finn MacLellan, siblings Carol (Rod Jones), Lynn (Lawerence Brewer), Scott, Judy (Dave Lewis), Robert (Lynda), Patricia, Allan (Andrew Nickel), Sherry (Mike Vogel), and Jamie.

Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by his older brother Wayne (Mary Kelly) on January 8th of this year.

We would like express our deep appreciation to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, the VON and Palliative Care staff who were our partners in the last stages of his journey.

We will miss his eccentric sense of humour as well as his tough exterior that concealed his soft loving heart.

Donations in Gary’s memory can be made to The Cancer Patient Care Fund, Palliative Care or VON.

There will be no wake or service at his request and there will be a private internment at a later date.
