It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mom Evangeline Victoria Wareham age 94, of New Waterford Nova Scotia, on September 28, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Vange as she was known to everyone, was the daughter of the late Walter and Theresa “Tessie” (Tighe) Burke of Lingan.
For the past two years Vange had become very dependent on her daughter Charlene for her every need. Vange looked forward to Charlene’s constant care, home cooked meals and putting together the family gatherings. They were not only mother and daughter but best friends.
Mom is survived by her daughters Charlene (Gordon), Karen (Frankie), sons Greg (Polly), Wally (Bernadette), Brian (Maureen), Gerard (Edna) daughters in-law Carolyn, Janice and Jill. Also surviving are her brothers Gerald, Eldon, Bernie and Danny (Burkie).
Vange was predeceased in death by her husband Daniel Willis Wareham after 47 years of marriage and three sons Blair, Danny and Kevin. Mom was also predeceased by her siblings Joe, Patrick, Mary and Theresa.
Mom had 24 grandchildren, many many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Mom enjoyed playing cards, bingo and watching her game shows. Mom also loved going to dances and getting up for the polkas with her sons. Mom was a former member of the Framboise volunteer fire department, and ran the senior 45 card games at the Framboise Community Hall.
We would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff on 3A of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their dedicated and compassionate care given to our mother during her stay. A special thanks to the osprey angels who looked out for Vange when family members could not be there.
