Eva Hope Holder

Eva Hope Holder, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Seaview Manor in Glace Bay. Born September 10, 1932 in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Hazel and Richard (Dick) Sheppard.

She moved to New Brunswick where she worked as an RN supervisor of pediatrics at the Fredericton Hospital and later upon her return home in 1969, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Glace Bay. She loved being an RN and many times used her skills on the neighborhood kids, especially her son Darrell, who added years to her nursing! Mom was known for her delicious meals and her love of children. You could always be sure of a good home cooked meal at the Holder house.

She is survived by her sons Rick (Shelly), Alberta, Darrell (Camille), Glace Bay and daughter Joanne (Tony), British Columbia, sister Deanna (Bob) Campbell, Ontario, brother Carl (Charlotte), New Brunswick, eight grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Thomas (Tommy) Holder, parents Hazel and Richard (Dick) Sheppard, brothers Jack Sheppard, William (Bill) Sheppard, sister Dorothy (Dot) and sister-in-law Linda Sheppard. She is also predeceased by great grand daughter Jamie and nephew David Sheppard.

Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
