It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Elsie Georgina Ings Woodman, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Birch Grove, Elsie was the daughter of the late William and Susan Wilcox. For a short period of time in her younger years she lived in Ontario but her heart always belonged to Cape Breton, where she eventually resettled back home in Glace Bay.

Elsie dedicated her life to her family. As a stay-at-home mom, she took on her proudest and biggest job: raising her two children, Darrel and Milissa. She was a constant, loving presence in their lives and shared a special bond with her son-in-law, Derrick Kelly. Elsie is also survived by her sister, Melda, nieces and nephews, and special niece, Wendy.

She loved her drives with da and the many hours shopping.

In her younger years, she enjoyed many good games of cards or bingo with family and friends. Mom was an avid sports fan, with wrestling as her main love; she never missed a Monday or Friday night show, or any of the pay-per-views. She also loved watching many game and cooking shows on TV

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of many years, Francis Woodman, who sadly passed away a few months ago on February 26, 2026. She was predeceased as well as by her sister, Annie. We take much comfort in knowing they are reunited.

In keeping with Elsie’s explicit wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
