With sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our mother Elizabeth "Dianne" Morrison at the age of 71 at her home in Sydney, NS. Dianne was the daughter of the late John Roddie and Annie MacInnis and was raised in Middle Cape, NS along with her ten siblings.
Dianne is survived by her four daughters, Sheena (Ben), Catrina (John), Breagh and Meaghan (Robert); grandchildren Tristan, Caleb, Madison, Liam, Kallum, Ella, Piper and Mia. She is also survived by her siblings David (Donna), Nelson (Donna), Ed (Joanne), Tommy (Hilda), Billy (Elaine), Judy , Beverly White (Daren) and sisters-in-law, Mary MacInnis and Donna MacInnis along with many nieces, nephews and cousins she held close to her heart. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers Joe, George (Mary), Kevin; and sister, Beverly.
Dianne was a vibrant woman who loved life and always saw the joy and blessings it gave. She was a carefree, sociable and outgoing individual who made fast friends wherever her life took her. A deeply spiritual woman, she faced every challenge with hope and faith. She loved to bake, sing, dance and be near the water, especially in Cape Breton. Holidays were her favourite time of year and growing up she always strived to make every holiday a special time for her children. Her door was always open for family, friends and anyone who needed a warm meal or a cup of tea, saying "there's always room for one more." She left behind a hell of a collection of crosses, statues, bibles and servingware that her children have no idea what to do with.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Victorian Order of Nurses (NS) for the care and compassion they provided to our mother. As well, a special thank you to her close friends for the kindness they showed her over the years.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of our mother's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) or a charity helping families in need.
Mom, you were loved and will be missed.
