Elizabeth Ann Bennett

With deep sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Elizabeth Ann Bennett of Sydney on July 2, 2025, at the age of 48.

Born in Baddeck, Liz was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Christine ("Tina") and John Peter ("Big Papa") MacAskill, who instilled in her the warmth, strength, and compassion that she carried throughout her life.

Liz graduated near the top of her class from Cape Breton University. She went on to find her true calling as an ESL teacher, where she touched countless lives with her patience, kindness, and unwavering belief in the power of education. Her students and colleagues meant the world to her, and she approached each day with passion and purpose.

Liz leaves behind her loving husband, Shayne, and their two cherished children, Shyla and Connor. She is also survived by her sisters April, Angie, and Stephanie, along with many nieces and nephews. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

Liz will be remembered for her warm heart, sharp wit, and boundless generosity. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
