It is with profound sadness that we share with you the passing of Edwin Patry on July 7, 2026 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 74.

Born and raised in Codroy, Eddy spent his days working at the car wash, serving his community as a member of the Lion’s Club, and doing everything he could to help any neighbour that called. When his children were grown, he left Newfoundland and relocated to Fort Nelson BC where he worked in equipment maintenance as well as in various lodges along the Alaska highway and continued to touch lives and grow a large circle of friends. When it was time to retire, he returned to the east coast and settled in Cape George, NS where he spent his remaining time quietly building his own peaceful retreat, cutting and hauling his own wood, and puttering around his land.

Eddy will be dearly missed by his loving wife Martha (nee Collier); his sons Jonathan, Adam, and Clayton (Tanja) and his daughter Clarissa; very close cousin Loretta Littlejohn; Grandchildren Lukas, Kal, Mariella, Cooper, and Leland; Siblings Catherine Keeping (Richard), Leonard (Mary), Alfred, Leo (Brenda), Anne Marsh (David), Gerard, and Pat; In-laws Mary O’Gorman (Richard), Evelyn Butler (Calvin), Beatrice Reed (Carl), Don Fraser; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Laurier and Marie Patry, grandson Ethan, and brother/sister in-laws Lena Patry, Sharon Boltz, Joan Fraser, Jim (Al) Collier, Levi (Bessie) Collier, and Clayton Collier.

At his request, cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation. Special thanks to the staff at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish NS for the kindness and care they provided during his final days.
