Dorothy Jean Peverill

Dorothy “Jean” Peverill passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, at the Glace Bay Hospital on Monday, February 5th, 2024, at the age of 84. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Harley A Peverill, her daughter Carol Windfield-Thomson, and siblings, Buddy Payne (Annie) and Terry Payne (Blanche).   

She is survived and deeply missed by her siblings Betty Lou Carabin (Late Lloyd), and Jerry Payne (Pat). Forever remembered by her children Penny Peverill (Andrew) and Harley G Peverill (Amber). Also survived by her beloved grandchildren Rebecca (Cam), Michael (Shepherd), Jessica (Adam), Jen, Alanah (Eric), Makayla and Jonnah (Danika), great grandchildren and all other family and friends.  

Jean was also predeceased by her special friend Pat Burns who brought her so much joy in her later years. She will be greatly missed by his family.  

Jean will continue to be remembered for her fun-loving and positive personality. Her strength and love for all resonated throughout her life, a beacon that continued to shine even in her final moments. May her strength be a source of inspiration and solace for those who mourn her passing.  Jean’s life journey included meaningful contributions, from her service in the Airforce to her years at Victoria Manor, leaving a mark on those she encountered.  

Grateful acknowledgement to family, friends, Dr. Stephanie Ellerker, Dr. Mark Ellerker, Lorne Carabin, Nicole Burton, Laura Beth, Jessie and the compassionate nurses and staff at Glace Bay Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Taigh Na Mara.  

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Glace Bay. 

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
