He later moved to Boston where he worked as a Chef at the Ritz Carleton Hotel and had the pleasure of meeting and preparing a meal for the film producer Howard Hughes. He met his wife Jeanette in Boston, they later moved back to Cape Breton where he accepted a job as a cooking instructor at Eastern Tech, then later he transferred to Adult Vocational Training Center as a cooking instructor, where he worked until his retirement in 1996. During this time, he also owned and operated Eric Murrin Catering Business.

Eric was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed many years hunting and fishing at his favorite spot at his “Bungalow” in Loch Lomond.  He loved to travel and go on yearly summer vacations to New Hampshire with his family. After retirement he spent approx. 20 years wintering in Florida.

During his last 15 months spent in Marion Bridge, he enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the eagles, hummingbirds, and the boats cruising up and down the river. He also enjoyed his evening games of cribbage.

There will be no visitation as per his wishes. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.  The family would like to Thank Continuing Care, VON and Palliative Care for their support during this stressful time.

Death leaves a heartache

No one can heal,

Love leaves a memory

No one can steal.
