Donald MacLeod, aged 89, passed away on August 19, 2026 at the MacGillivary Guest Home.

Donnie was born in Glace Bay on May 28, 1937 and lived on Tower Road and later Birch Grove in his adult years. His early career was spent with the Canadian Armed Forces before moving on to be a longtime employee of Devco, first in the #20 mine and then in the Central Shops Electrical Department.

Donnie was a dedicated husband to wife, Emily (Mugford), they were married for 55 years before her passing in 2019.

He is survived by his sister Shirley Maguire of Kitchener, ON, brothers John MacLeod and Kevin MacLeod of Grande Prairie, AB and daughter Elizabeth Lamb of Vancouver BC, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Archibald and Annabel MacLeod, parents in law Jack and Olive Mugford, brother Bill MacLeod and sister Linda Beaupré.

The family is deeply grateful for Dr. Archibald and the staff of the MacGillivray Guest Home for their exceptional care, and for the many close friends and neighbours and their support of Donnie.

Donnie will be remembered for his quiet kindness and his willingness to help others.

Internment of both Donnie and Emily will be held at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 27th, at 2pm.
