With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of David Brian Youden, 72, of Sydney, Nova Scotia who passed away on August 8th , 2026 at home. Born in Sydney on March 10, 1954, Dave was the son of the late Walter Gus and Ellen (Routledge) Youden.

Dave was known to be a hard worker and spent many of his years working for Bridge Paving Ltd and then later for Kyle’s Paving. Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed spending time outdoors doing the simple things in life such as hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his camping trips to Gabarus and Newfoundland over the years. He spent most of his recent days spoiling his youngest granddaughter, Haylie.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Darlene and their children, Shelly (Alvin), Wendy, Michelle (Mike) and Brian. He also leaves behind his 6 grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Kyle, Peyton, Kaelyn and Haylie and his brothers Wally (Sandra), Harold (Darlene) and Terry (Mae). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his sister-in-laws and their families. He was predeceased by his brother Kevin.

The family would like to thank the Palliative care team and VON who helped care for Dave at home. Cremation has taken place and keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation.
