There are no words to express how deeply saddened we are to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father, Dale Andrew O’Day. Dale passed away on May 8, 2025 at 70 years of age.
The son of the late Dennis and Mary (MacDonald) O’Day. Dale will be dearly missed by his children, Jacquelyn O’Day and Kristen O’Day, as well as 5 grandchildren; Hailey, Cavin, Parker, Aiden and Ross. He is also survived by his sisters; Patricia Sutherland, Deborah Latoski and brother David O’Day, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dale is also survived by so many special friendships made through both his professional and personal life.
Dale professionally practiced as one of the first licensed Denturists, holding membership with the Denturist Association of Canada for the past 50 years. He also had a dedicated passion for martial arts and was a member of the International Taekwondo Confederation, proudly achieving fifth degree black belt, “Oh Dan”, Master status under the direction of the late Master Oh Jang Yoon. Dale provided instructional classes in Taekwondo to numerous communities within Cape Breton over many years.
Dale enjoyed engaging in a number of recreation and leisure interests including golfing at Passchendaele Golf Club, swimming, running, fishing, walking at Dominion Beach, playing chess with his grandchildren, watching western films, CNN and hockey – Go Leafs Go!
Dale also enjoyed many moments hunting with his father, brother and friends. He treasured moments with his mother and held her memory dear to his heart. Dale loved connecting with people through story sharing, offering treasured words of wisdom from his life experiences.
Above all, Dale was a family man. He absolutely loved spending many special moments with family in “Bras d’Or”, Dale cherished each and every member of his family, both near and far, especially his grandchildren who he adored entirely.
Dale touched so many lives along life’s journey, making an ever-lasting impression on anyone he came in contact with. His loving kindness, wisdom and humour will be forever remembered and live on in the hearts of everyone that knew him. He will be greatly missed and always remembered with so much love as the most wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, cousin and friend.
