Charlotte Jeanette Young

It is with profound sadness that we the sons and family announce the devastating loss of our mother and sister, Charlotte (Jeannette) Young of Whitney Pier. Mom passed away in Palliative care at the CBRH, Thurs Sept 25th at the age of 75 surrounded by family. Mom was the eldest daughter of Charles and Beatrice (Bonnell) MacDonald. Jeanette is survived by her sons Stephen (Melanie) Danny (Amanda) both of Balls Creek. Her grandchildren Russ, Stephen, Liam, Keelan, Logan and Brynlee. Brothers Charlie (Nora) Terry (Valerie) Rob (Geraldine) Donnie (Mary-lou). Sisters Sharon (George) Olive (Blaise) Rita (Martin) Esther (James) Judy (Al) Selina (Kevin) Margaret (Darryl) many nieces and nephews. Sister in Laws Doris MacDonald and Laurie Mac Donald and Cora Milligan. Best friend Carol Burke (Ontario), and her fur baby Mitchy. Along with her parents Mom was predeceased by her husband James Roy Young. Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law June and Roy Young. Brothers Johnny, Jim and Joe MacDonald, Sister Marilyn Monahan. Brothers in Law Eddie Mah, John Nunes, and Gordan Milligan. Sister-in-Law Margaret MacDonald, and Our father Russell MacKinnon.

Mom moved to Ontario in the 80's, where she lived with her husband Roy for many years. She had numerous odd jobs before being employed with the city of Burlington as a bylaw officer. She retired from her career following an injury and later returned home to Cape Breton to be closer to her family.

Jeanette was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60 in Burlington Ontario. She continued her services when she moved home to Sydney, with the Ashby Legion Branch 138. Mom loved to party, family get togethers, washer toss games, bowling, dancing and her favorite was practical jokes. We the family wish to thank the Dialysis Unit at CBRH, the nurses and Doctors in palliative care at CBRH. Special thanks to Dr. M Smith her vascular surgeon. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 6th at 11am.
