On the morning of November 3rd, just as the darkness of night was fading, the angels came and took a kind and gentle soul home. We, the family are heartbroken to announce Bryon’s passing after a long fight with lung cancer. Bryon was born in Sydney to the late Emerson and Betty Rogers of Sydney Forks, where he grew up.
He leaves behind his wife Heather Smith-Rogers, the one who was his rock always, but especially during his illness. Bryon and Heather raised their 3 children in Northside East Bay. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his children; Cheryl (Steven) Bain, and their 2 boys; Casey and Lucas, Edmonton, AB, Shaelene (Hartley) LaFosse and their son Avery Dolhanty, North Sydney, and son Blair (Emily Arnold), NS East Bay. He will also be missed by his brother Arthur (late Jean) and sister Florence (Vernon) Oakley, Sydney Forks.
Bryon was an employee of the CBRV School Board, where he was lead painter for 40 years, but the thing Bryon was most proud of (besides his family) was being a member of the NSEBV Fire Department for 40 years where he held the office of Treasurer (and God help us if he was so much as $5 off in his count!)
Bryon was a husband, father and grandfather second to none. Rest peacefully our dear one, you deserve it. We love you and you will never be forgotten.
For those who wish to pay their respects., Bryon’s cremains will be held at the Northside East Bay Volunteer Fire house on Sunday November 12th from 2-4 pm.
Time to come home dear brother
Your tour of duty through
You’ve given as much as anyone
Could be expected to do
Just a few steps further
The smoke will start to clear
Others here will guide you
You have no need of fear
You have not failed your brothers
You clearly gave it all
And through your selfless actions
Others will hear the call
So take your place of honor
Among those who have gone before
And know you will be remembered
For now and evermore
