Obituary

The definition of friendship is a voluntary interpersonal bond, characterized by mutual affection, trust, and loyalty. By that definition, Brian Anthony MacLean was friendship personified.

It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Brian Anthony MacLean, born August 11, 1967, who passed away on May 22, 2026.

Brian’s hobbies and passions reflected the many parts of who he was. He enjoyed archery, loved playing the drums, and cared deeply for his pets. Brian proudly served with the Infantry before becoming widely recognized as the drummer for the Texas Tall Boys where his talent was obvious to everyone fortunate enough to hear and watch him perform. Music was more than a hobby to Brian, it was part of who he was.

Brian’s dedication and loyalty to his friends were unmatched. At any given time, he could often be found doing favors before they were even asked. He was the kind of person who showed up, stepped in, and gave without hesitation. His friendship was a gift, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

Among those friendships was a brotherhood unlike any other with Troy. Their bond went beyond friendship; it was built through years of shared experiences, unspoken understanding, inside jokes, and a language that belonged only to them. In each other’s company, childhood never really ended. It lived on in laughter, memories, and the comfort of a connection that time could never outgrow. Their loyalty to each other was remarkable. Brian was our right hand. You never had to carry anything alone, because Brian was always there holding up the other end.

Brian is survived by his parents, Margaret and William MacLean; his sisters, Vonda (Kevin) Devison and Marilyn (Brad) Herd; his brothers, Robert (Sharon) MacLean and Allen MacLean; his daughter, Morgan Currie; and his son, Anthony McNeil, who carries on Brian’s love of heavy metal music, a shared passion and bond that lives on through him.

Brian also leaves behind a close circle of friends who became family: Troy McCarthy, Jimmy Hall, and Robert Burke, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Cremation has taken place.

As the final notes play on, we take comfort knowing Brian lived loudly, loved deeply, and left a rhythm that will continue through those who knew him best. In the spirit of Wasted Years, life is not measured simply by the years behind us, but by the memories we create and the people whose lives we touch. Brian’s song may have ended, but his music, and his memory will never fade to black.
